As he gradually reaches 20% of his power, Izuku begins to develop a mental connection to the previous users of One For All through the Quirk. Realizing that he has legs (oof!) and has been mimicking All Might in using One For All (double oof!), Izuku began using his legs as well as his arms, giving birth of his "Shoot-Style" fighting. For this reason, he decided that his costume would need some improvements so that it would be easier to punch and not injure himself as easily until he got used to One For All. After being told that if this were to happen two or three more times, he would lose functionality in his arms. This causes Izuku to go beyond his limits, fracturing his arms. Later, while at training camp, the class is attacked by villains. During his internship with Gran Torino, Izuku learns to use five percent of his power throughout his whole body, which he called "Full Cowling." This minimizes the damage to his body, allowing him to control his Quirk to a greater degree. Its existence is kept secret to prevent chaos from the peoples. Upon meeting the hero while attempting to save Bakugō from a villain, Izuku is chosen by All Might to become the ninth holder of One For All (ワン・フォー・オール Wan Fō Ōru), a Quirk that stockpiles the user's physical strength and unleashes it as a powerful burst the quirk can also be passed from one person to another. Izuku is a quirkless boy who is extremely knowledgeable about heroes and dreams to become one like his idol All Might. Nicknamed Deku (デク) by his childhood friend Katsuki, based from the Japanese term meaning "good-for-nothing." The English dub makes it an abbreviation for "Defenseless IzuUku".
